Book A Cemetery Tour

This is the fifteenth year for our Historic Preservation Awards, and in that time we have honored over sixty organizations and individuals from all over the Mahoning Valley.  These awards do not simply showcase those responsible for the projects, but on a larger scale they demonstrate how historic preservation can be successfully achieved.  The projects we have recognized over the past fifteen years show the possibility of preservation over demolition.  These preserved buildings allow new generations to see and appreciate the beautiful work of architects and designers of past decades and sometimes, past centuries.

The judging panel for this year’s awards included:

  • Donna DeBlasio, Professor of History at Youngstown State University
  • Mark Peyko, Editor/Publisher of the Metro Monthly
  • Rebecca Rogers, Historic Preservation Consultant & Landscape Historian

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society applauds these important efforts to preserve our community’s cultural and architectural heritage.
