Welcome to the ninth annual Cookie Table and Cocktails at Home online event! We may not all be able to be together in person in 2021 but we hope you can participate in this celebratory fundraiser for Mahoning Valley Historical Society from the comfort and safety of your own home.
The cookie table is a regional and cultural phenomenon that continues to be embraced in our Mahoning Valley. This signature fundraising event was created to pay tribute to this beloved custom and provide crucial support to MVHS. See below for all the details!

Baking Experts in the Mahoning Valley
Learn about those who enter cookies in our annual baking competition and get insights from past event judges. If you’re up to the challenge, try this recipe for “Italian Lemon Cookies,” as demonstrated by Stacey Adger.
Italian Lemon Cookies
- In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, cornstarch, zest and salt.
- In a large bowl beat the butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Then add half the flour and lemon juice and beat together.
- Then with a wood spoon or spatula mix in the remaining flour until combined.
- Move the dough to a large piece of parchment paper and form the dough into a log.
- Wrap in the paper and refrigerate for an hour.
- Remove the dough from the fridge, and cut into 1/2 inch slices.
- Place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and refrigerate again for about 20 minutes.
- Then bake for about 15 minutes.
- Once the cookies have cooled completely, then you can top them with a little lemon glaze if desired.
2021 Signature Cocktail
Presented by guest mixologist, Atty. Brian Macala
Reminisce about the classic cocktails we’ve featured in the past and learn how to prepare this year’s signature drink.
A wonderful nod to our area’s industrial past and Atty. Macala’s own family have inspired this year’s signature cocktail, the “Puddler.” Watch this video program to find out more of the story behind it and how to make the drink. Here is the recipe for your convenience:
- Non-aromatic gin (eg., Beefeater)
- Chambord raspberry liqueur
- Luxardo maraschino liqueur
- Campari liqueur
- Fresh orange slice
- Add ice to shaker
- Pour 2 oz of gin into shaker
- Pour 1 oz of Chambord into shaker
- Pour ½ oz of Luxardo into shaker
- Pour ½ oz of Campari into shaker
- Squeeze an orange slice into shaker, then remove orange flesh, rim martini glass with orange rind, and toss rind into glass
- Shake for approximately 15 seconds
- Pour into glass and enjoy!
