Preserving the Valley’s food history…one bite at a time!  The Recipes of Youngstown group on Facebook, with over 9,000 members, is hosting a fall tasting event to honor our Armed Forces and to promote the group’s third cookbook.

Stars, Stripes & Servings will be held Saturday, November 11th from Noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Tyler History Center, 325 West Federal Street in downtown Youngstown.

Over 30 delicious family dishes are being prepared by bakers whose recipes are included in the new cookbook. A portion of the proceeds from the event and from sales of the new cookbook will be used to fund a newly established scholarship at the YSU Foundation to provide assistance to military veterans finishing their education. Admission is free, tasting tickets are six for $5.00, tickets are also available for raffle baskets.

Other activities include an Anything Apple contest and a fun photo booth where people can take a picture with a favorite chef, favorite food, Happy and Go Lucky, (aka Donald R. Allen and Ernie DiRenzo), Bill Lawson, Director of MVHS in an old fashioned costume from Youngstown’s history, a brave Veteran in uniform, or they can even don a chefs hat and some other fun accessories. Photo boot donations will go directly to the Scholarship fund.

Free adjacent parking is available in the west side lot.
