Arms Family Museum and Tyler History Center will continue to be closed until further notice.
(updated 06/05/2020)
On Thursday, June 4, 2020, Governor DeWine announced that entertainment venues would be the next type of businesses that could reopen to the public, beginning Wednesday, June 10. Museums fall within this category.
MVHS will continue to extend our closings of ARMS FAMILY MUSEUM, BUSINESS & MEDIA ARCHIVES, TYLER HISTORY CENTER, and the ARCHIVES RESOURCE CENTER until further notice. We have been preparing our approach to reopening with the utmost standards and procedures necessary to keep the general public, members, volunteers, guides, and our staff as safe as possible and still provide a valued experience with Mahoning Valley Historical Society. We expect to announce our plans in the coming days and encourage you to revisit this page to get the latest news regarding our reopening policies.
As a reminder, MVHS has cancelled all admissions and programs at Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal Street, Youngstown, OH and Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Avenue, Youngstown, OH until further notice. In the meantime, take a look at our newest, online features like Did You Know? Home Projects, Time Capsules, and our latest Upcoming Events on this web site. We have turned our popular monthly lunchtime program, Bites and Bits of History, into a virtual format. Our next online video event is Thursday, June !8. “What Brought Them Here: African American Migrations into the Mahoning Valley” will be presented by Stacey Adger, local historian and genealogist. It can be accessed from our MVHS YouTube channel and our Facebook page.
If you have any questions about our public health policies, facility security, or event scheduling, please email Dave Ragan, Communications Manager at or call 330-743-2589, ext. 122 for information or assistance.
Preserving history is our pledge to you. Your gift to MVHS is a worthwhile investment and truly appreciated.
