MVHS knew that our History To Go Series was going to be very different in 2020, due to the continued public health and safety concerns from the COVID-19 pandemic. While three other events would be held virtually, Amazing History Race was able to happen in a similar fashion to how it has typically been held in previous years. MVHS kept mask-wearing and social distancing standards where applicable.
Participation was no less than in 2019, with 12 teams vying to win. All teams came up with creative racing names for their vehicles. Each team was assigned a Pit Crew member, which consisted of MVHS staff, Board members, and some dedicated volunteers from our History To Go Team. That MVHS advisory group organizes this annual event series, as well as, our annual Cookie Table and Cocktails fundraiser.
This year, three teams arrived first but did not correctly identify all six landmarks. Coming out on top was the team ironically known as “CLUELESS.” Participants were Sue Stricklin, Mark Stricklin, and Rosemarie Eckenrode. They received a customized racing trophy, along with bragging rights for the next year!
Unfortunately, two teams had to leave the race due to camera phone and vehicle issues. MVHS thanks all who enjoyed hunting for historic sites and tailgating afterwards on a warm, sunny day. We also very much appreciate all who helped organize and assist this event.
