With MVHS Curator of Education, Traci Manning April 1922 marked the opening of Harry Burt’s landmark Youngstown location at 325 West Federal Street.  This expansion offered his confectionary business the needed space to become an anchor building downtown with unprecedented growth.  The building itself featured a long list of innovative and unique settings for retail, casual and fine dining, and manufacturing.

The Journey to Excellence: The Dana School of Music

Presented by Cassie Nespor, YSU’s Melnick Medical Museum William Dana started his music school in 1869 to provide the type of rigorous study he believed was necessary for professional musicians. For 150 years, the school has remained rooted in those steadfast practice techniques while also adapting to changes in education and musical styles. This presentation will use historical photographs, programs, and recorded audio to tell its story.
