Yes She Can: Women and the Steel Industry

In recognition of Women’s History Month, join a panel of speakers to explore women’s relationships to industrial and millwork from a historical perspective. Panelists will discuss women’s roles from their initial support of male workers to their lives as the spouses of mill workers, and finally as women working in the mills.  Presenting speakers include: Jacqueline Marino, Author and Associate Professor of Journalism at Kent State University; Eliese Colette Goldbach, noted author and former steel mill worker; Mary E. Triece, Author and Professor in the School of Communication at The University of Akron; and Jennifer Vanderpool, renowned artist whose multi-venue exhibition “Untold Stories: The Forgotten Underclass in Rust Belt Urban Renewal” is on display at The Tyler History Center and The University of Akron.
