OUR MARCH 24, 2020 EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE PUBLIC HEALTH PRECAUTIONS REGARDING COVID-19. We hope to reschedule this program at a future date.

“The Pivotal Right: A History of the Women’s Suffrage Movement” will be a special program to review and commemorate the centennial year of women’s right to vote. The evening presentation by Mahoning Valley Historical Society will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. at Tyler History Center in Downtown Youngstown. “Attendees will learn about the brave and outspoken women who fought to gain voting rights in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Their struggle, persecution, and prosecution will be set against the backdrop of national history and the greater Civil Rights movement,” says Traci Manning, MVHS Curator of Education, who will be the evening’s main presenter. The program will feature women of note, including Lucretia Mott, Lucy Stone, Ida B. Wells, and Carrie Chapman Catt.
