Mahoning Valley Historical Society announces our eighth annual Cookie Table & Cocktails fundraising event for Leap Day, Saturday, February 29, 2020.
Supporting its operations at Tyler History Center and Arms Family Museum, this is the largest fundraiser of the year for MVHS. The catered event is styled to recreate a traditional Youngstown wedding reception and features a cookie baking competition for both amateurs and professionals, judged by a select panel of community figures. Stan Boney, longtime local TV journalist, will be the event emcee once again this year.
Our cookie baking contest is now closed for registration. Over 80 bakers will be competing this year! The cookie categories are as follows: Best Cocktail Inspired Cookie, Best Use of a Unique Ingredient, Best Traditional Cookie, and Best Decorated Cookie. Cookies will be judged on overall impression, consistency, and flavor. Each cookie baker will receive one complimentary event ticket and special recognition at the event. Bakers may also participate without competing in the contest categories.
A cash bar will be available and and feature classic cocktails, in addition to other mixed drinks, wine, and beer. Penguin City Brewing Company will be providing a new twist by producing a limited edition beer, “Peach Champagne Ale,” based on one of the winning cookies from the 2019 event competition. A preview of this special brew will be held at a separate product launch event to be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at B&O Station Banquet Hall in Downtown Youngstown.
After the buffet dinner by Fusillo Catering, an ample dance floor will be opened up with musical entertainment provided by Grammy-winning Del Sinchak Orchestra. MVHS will also offer a 50/50 raffle, basket raffle, and silent auction. This event’s Co-Title Sponsors are Stifel and The Waypoint Group at Morgan Stanley. Our Wedding Reception Level Sponsors are Boak & Sons, Rulli Bros., and WKBN 27 First News.
