Calling All Cars: A History of the Youngstown Police Department
The Mahoning Valley Historical Society is opening a new exhibit at the Tyler History Center. Calling All Cars: A History of the Youngstown Police Department will feature artifacts from the YPD, private collectors, and the historical society’s collection of historical materials. MVHS staff are working with a committee of current and retired police personnel to tell the story of local law enforcement from the beginning of the 19th Century through the present. The exhibit will feature an array of images and documents as well as uniforms and badges, gear and equipment, police vehicle parts, and more.
Calling All Cars: A History of the Youngstown Police Department opens at the Tyler’s Youngstown Foundation Community History Gallery on Saturday, February 11th.
Current and retired police personnel and their families are invited free of charge to the opening weekend (Saturday, February 11 and Sunday February 12).
The Tyler History Center, at 325 West Federal Street in downtown Youngstown is open Tuesday-Sunday from Noon to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and $2 for children, and includes a same day visit to the Arms Family Museum.
