Beauty Revealed: Restored Paintings from the Wirt Collection
These paintings are from the collection of Benjamin Franklin Wirt (1852-1930), a local lawyer, businessman, and Ohio senator. The paintings were done in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and showed signs of wear common to pieces of that age.
Earlier this year, the paintings were delivered to conservators at the Intermusuem Conservation Association in Cleveland, Ohio. The conservators spent many hours carefully treating each work of art in order to restore its former appearance. The results are truly amazing.
We would like to thank the staff of the Intermuseum Conservation Association for their efforts in successfully restoring these important pieces of the historical society’s collection.
Special thanks to the Frank and Pearl Gelbman Foundation for underwriting this restoration.
