A Guide to Archives and Collections in Mahoning, Trumbull & Columbiana Counties

The main goal of this project, which started with nine organizations as the Collecting Institutions Round-table, was to provide information in a convenient form to anyone interested in conducting research at a historical depository in the tri-county area.  The Sourcebook provides information on what documents and collections are available at each location, but it also includes contact information, hours of operation, address, fees, duplication services and parking availability.

The project was funded through grants from the Ohio Humanities Council and the Kennedy Fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.

Dr. William Jenkins, Professor Emeritus of History,Youngstown State University, comments: “Overall I commend the Mahoning Valley Historical Society for its work on this brochure. Rather than highlighting its collections only, it chose a cooperative approach that benefits all researchers in the Mahoning Valley.”

If you know of collections and/or institutions that are not included in this first edition of the Local History Sourcebook, please contact the Histoical Society.  Additional entries can be added to the online resource guide.
