The campaign provides a variety of opportunities for individuals, foundations, businesses, public agencies and civic and service groups to be a part of one of the most important projects in the exciting transformation of the Mahoning Valley as it looks to the future while preserving its distinguished heritage.
Tax-deductible campaign contributions may take the form of cash; pledges up to a five-year period; donations of securities, tangible personal property, and real estate; and bequests and other types of planned gifts.
Donor Recognition Levels All contributions will be acknowledged in print materials at the following levels unless anonymity is requested.
Endowment Opportunities An endowment fund to support The Mahoning Valley Historical Society's programming and service is key to ensuring long-term financial stability. Of the $6 million campaign total, $2 million has been designated for endowment. While endowment contributions will be held in perpetuity, the income generated by the endowment fund will help provide the resources to expand educational programs, add necessary staff members, enrich public programs and allow the Historical Society to operate in a fiscally sound fashion to better serve the community.
In addition to the general endowment fund, donors may choose to designate their gift to one of three newly established endowment funds:
n Education Endowment will help support on-site and outreach educational programs and special events, inlcuding school programs, curriculum development and public offerings. The Mahoning Valley History Center will provide a venue for an array of programs, classes and events not previously possible.
n Exhibits Endowment will support the permanent exhibits being designed for the new History Center, as well as make possible the option to host traveling exhibits and create temporary exhibits. Changing exhibitions create a new vitality by offering visitors an appealing reason to return for multiple visits.
n Archives Endowment will allow the Historical Society to continue to serve as the premier guardian of Mahoning Valley's heritage by ensuring museum-worthy cataloging and storage methods of its archives as well as increasing its capacity for acquisitions in fulfillment of its mission.
The Mahoning Valley Historical Society Legacy Circle All individuals making and endowment gift (or a planned gift) of $25,000 or more to The Campaign for the Mahoning Valley History Center will be recognized as members of the newly established Legacy Circle, a permanent group that will endure beyond the campaign. Legacy Circle members will receive special ongoing recognition each year.
Additional Giving Opportunities In the spirit of The Campaign for the Mahoning Valley History Center - that will not only add a much-needed new facility for the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, but contribute to the current renaissance of the Mahoning Valley - both the staff and campaign leadership welcome the opportunity to discuss other commemorative opportunities tailored to a donor's particular wishes.
